May 20 - Tornados Men Still on Top; RVSC Ladies Take Two More

The Boys Ramapo Valley SC U-19 team (Walkley) continued to remain in first place in their spring league with an excellent 6-1 record. The rebounded from their first loss last weekend (2-3 vs. Ridgefield Park) with a convincing 7-0 blanking of Teaneck in a game played at Torne Valley on Sunday May 20th.

 

The Girls Ramapo Valley Tornados U-19 team (Mitts/Corini) moved to 4-2 on the season with an impressive 8-1 win at Bayonne.  Seven different players scored with Stepahine Fauchere, Martina Kaldany, Danielle Lahm, Rebecca Stevens, Aileen Lennon, Caroline Skoda all tallyng one and Mary Gray adding 2 goals. Jenny DeNicola and Kate Wolfe controlled mid-field and added two assists each and Britanny Schwartz and Catherine Mitts patroled the backfield with solid play while Lynsey Bolhke handled goal-tending duties with convincing control.  On May 13th the Girls celebrated Mother's Day with a strong 2-0 win at Hackensack.  Besarta Tanushaj scored in the first minute of play off an Aileen Lennon pass and Mary Gray took a long Kate Wolfe pass and out-manuevered the goalie for a 2nd half goal.  Linsey Boelhke notted the shutout in goal.

 

May 3 - Tornados Men Remain in First; RVSC Ladies take Initial loss in Stride

The Boys Ramapo Valley SC U-19 team (Walkley) continued its winning ways with a 6-2 win over Emerson on April 22nd and a convincing 5-1 win over Monroe-Woodbury on Sunday April 29th.  WIth a 4-0 record and 19 goals for and only 5 goals against the team continues to head its division with excellent play.

 

 

The Girls Ramapo Valley Tornados U-19 team (Mitts/Corini) fell to 2-1 on the season with its first loss by a 3-0 score vs. Arsenal.  The game was played at Torne Valley on April 29th.  Arsenal struck first on a steal from a defensive pass and a breakway and moments later a hard shot on goal ended up breaking the hand of Tornado goalie Nicole Armaniaco.  She was replaced in net by Linsey Boelhke, who played well the remainder of the game.  Several chances for the Lady Tornados to break the shutout came up short but their second half play was strong.
